ChristianaCare is recruiting for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hematology Department with locations in Newark and Wilmington, DE. This is a full-time Monday - Friday position working in the practice as well as inpatient consults. The selected candidate will be responsible for services that include team-based care management and treatment of malignant and benign Hematology patients; to include but not limited to care planning, cancer screening/surveillance, chemotherapy symptom management, pain management, patient education, communication with patients and families, ensuring continuity of care across range of clinical settings, attention of spiritual comfort and psychosocial support, bereavement support, and hospice care.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Obtains medical history; performs comprehensive physical examination; records pertinent data in medical record system; orders and interprets appropriate laboratory, radiologic, and other diagnostic tests; orders medications and therapeutic procedures.
• Collaborates with referring physician regarding treatment plan, provides follow up communication.
• Monitors and documents effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
• Examines and treats all patients within established guidelines and scope of practice.
• Provides patient and family education regarding health issues addressed during visit.
• Provides clinical expertise, develops/maintains and regularly reviews written objectives, policies, procedures, and quality assurance to insure efficient and effective delivery of care and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborates, identifies and resolves issues with liaison departments to maintain working relationships and patient care standards.

Position Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Must have the ability to be licensed in the State of Delaware and meet credentialing requirements
• Three years of Nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant experience preferred.
• Malignant & benign hematology, symptom management, triage and urgent care experience preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• BLS certified
