The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Phoenix Children’s seeks a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to serve as Section Chief in Leukemia and Lymphoma. We are looking for an experienced, transformational physician leader to grow further one of the largest pediatric leukemia and lymphoma programs in the United States. A close working relationship and physician liaison exists with our Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cell Therapy program, which provides services for patients requiring life-saving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies, including CAR-T cell treatment. The incoming section chief will leverage extraordinary clinical and research opportunities in collaboration with our three academic and clinical partners, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will have several years of focused experience in clinical care for pediatric patients with hematologic malignancies and be nationally recognized as a leader in this field. General responsibilities include oversight of the section's clinical, research, educational, and quality programs and shared inpatient and outpatient patient care. Through the academic partnership of Phoenix Children’s Research Institute (PCRI) and the University of Arizona-College of Medicine-Phoenix, candidates with existing laboratory research programs will have access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and local partners such as the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) of City of Hope, and Mayo Clinic Arizona. Qualified candidates should have a strong interest in mentoring and program development, be academically productive, and be board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, subspecialty Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s sees, on average, 400 new oncology patients per year, of which more than 140 are patients with hematologic malignancies. We have additional active clinical and research programs in solid tumor, neuro-oncology, hematology, BMT/Cell Therapy, palliative medicine, and survivorship. The CCBD is an active member of COG, POETIC, TACL, the Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, offering consortia trials, phase I and II industry-sponsored studies, and investigator-initiated trials. Our ACGME-approved pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program is approved for three fellows/year.

CCBD is a designated Center of Excellence at Phoenix Children's with two satellite locations in the East and the Southwest Valley of Maricopa County. In addition to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses, our large, dedicated support staff includes social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, psychologists, and mental health therapists.
