Reporting to one of our department Supervisors or Managers. This position provides Roman Catholic sacraments and spiritual support to Roman Catholic patients, loved ones, and staff in accordance with their expressed spiritual and emotional needs and desires.The Roman Catholic Priest will provide shift coverage at a designated PIH Health hospital that will routinely include weekend hours, on-call hours as well as some holidays as needed.The Roman Catholic Priest makes visits on a one-to-one basis, respecting and honoring the patient and family’s culture, traditions, and faith perspectives. Hewill not proselytize, but provide compassionate listening and support.Complex religious concerns and/or issues related to patient plan of care should be immediately referred to Chaplains for ongoing support.The Roman Catholic Priest understands and support issues of patient safety and concern for patient rights and responsibilities.

·Excellent interpersonal and pastoral counseling skills with demonstrated success quickly building rapport, trust, and credibility with patients/families as well as collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues.

·Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English both verbally and in writing.
·Competency with electronic medical documentation software as well as computer software such as Microsoft Office.
Required:
Board Certified Chaplain, or in-process of achieving board certification within 2 years of employment.
Master of Divinity from accredited Seminary or equivalent degree from a corollary discipline combined with equivalent theological training
Must be an ordained Roman Catholic priest in good standing, who have the permission and the faculties of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles to perform ministry at PIH Health.
Evidence of annual continuing education and maintaining standing with accrediting professional association/organization.
Evidence of multi-cultural awareness, humility, and curiosity.
LA City Fire Card within 6 months of employment (PHGSH location only)
Preferred:
More than five years of experience working in a hospital and/or hospice setting.
