Mercy Health Physician Partners (MHPP) and Mercy Health Saint Mary's (Trinity Health) are seeking a full-time, or part-time (call taking), Anesthesiologist to join our anesthesia team located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The physician will join a professional, confident and friendly team of five physicians. We practice a care team model, providing medical direction over CRNAs. However, there is still some opportunity to do a few of your own cases.
The hospital is designated as a Level 2 trauma center and has 20 operating rooms. We cover a range of cases, including orthopedic (elective + trauma), gynecology, ENT, complex vascular, neurosurgery and thoracic cases. We also provide off-site anesthesia support to our patients in radiology, cardiology and endoscopy suites. We have a full obstetrical practice with a decent mix of high risk and BB OB plus plenty of epidural opportunities.
We have dedicated time to improving the efficiency of the OR and the quality of care for our patients. In the last two years, we launched our Surgical Optimization Service where patients undergo a consistent and comprehensive review/tune up prior to surgery. This has improved patient satisfaction and limited unnecessary appointments and cancellations. In addition to this, we have implemented ERAS protocols with many of the surgical services. We utilize peripheral nerve blocks and advanced regional techniques to reach enhanced recovery goals with our surgical colleagues. Candidates are expected to be proficient in many of the basic peripheral nerve blocks (pop saph, adductor canal, erector spinae, etc).
Call and holidays are shared equally among the group. There is only one physician on call per night. There is a limited number of afterhours and weekend call responsibilities due to excellent CRNA coverage paired with the in-house anesthesiologist. There is no travel required and all services are on one campus.
Physicians must be board certified in their specialty, or board eligible, and will become board certified within 2 years of becoming board eligible. A State of Michigan license is required at time of employment, along with a DEA license and ACLS and BLS certifications.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right Anesthesiologist to be part of Mercy Health Physician Partners.
