Scope: Under minimum supervision of a pharmacist working within a retail/medically integrated dispensing pharmacy provides services related to all aspects of dispensing of oral cancer treatment and supportive care medications to patients of Compass Oncology. This includes technical and nonjudgmental aspects of prescription processing and dispensing. Responsibilities:
Receive, and verify patient demographics, insurance information and prescription information
Prescription adjudication
Processes prescriptions and bills insurance for payment
Troubleshoot insurance coverage and verification
Performs and/or Assists with prior authorization submissions as directed by pharmacist
Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assumes responsibility for dispensing medications
Dispense and label medications for pharmacist review and check
Prepare dispensed medications for courier and mailing
Enter patient specific notes in EMR as related to specific activities
Make applications for financial assistance for patients through cancer foundations and co-pay assistance for patients.
Makes phone calls to patients prior to shipment and refill fulfilment
Ensures most cost effective drugs are ordered from vendors
Participate in filing of paperwork in pharmacy
Prepare, print and file daily pharmacy reports
Assist with maintenance of pharmacy supplies
Assists in ensuring compliance with quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements
Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical and clinical staff
Purchase medications, ensure optimizing cost effective and formulary options
Track, count and record pharmacy medication inventory; Assists pharmacist with inventory management to include assuring proper inventory levels, pricing, drug outages, recalls etc
Collect and process payment methods for prescription copays.
Process and submit prescription audits as received from insurance companies.
Daily OCM data entry as directed by the OCM Eligibility and Enrollment Specialists for the practice.
Qualifications: Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pharmacy Technician certification required.
Pharmacy technician licensure in state of practice required.
Experience/Training:
Minimum (3) years of experience as an MID or pharmacy technician.
Oncology background preferred.
