Position Summary: The Palliative Care Nurse Coordinator functions as an educator, consultant, clinician, and scheduler in the delivery of Palliative care to adult patients in the MultiCare Inland Northwest Region. This position in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team is responsible for initial chart review and when appropriate interactions with patients and families to introduce palliative care and coordinate consultation with a palliative care provider. This position will also engage in the provision of Palliative Care education opportunities to promote an optimal level of knowledge and performance skills for nursing personnel to enhance the quality of patient care. This position operates independently, working cooperatively and collaboratively with health care staff and management. Work situations require substantial competency and specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences. This position requires an expert clinical practitioner, self-direction, motivation, organization, and interpretation of information relating to a wide variety of policies, procedures, and programs. Work situations are frequently non-routine, requiring analysis and the use of discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Critical decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Palliative Care Team. This position requires extensive internal and external contacts with staff, physicians, management, and community resources.
Minimum Requirements: Experience in hospice and/or palliative care preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a professional RN nurse in the State of Washington BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) preferred
