WMCC is a multispecialty group that houses 5 Radiation Oncologists, 1 Gynecologic Oncologist, 1 Surgical Oncologist and 4 midlevel providers. WMCC is owned by the 2 large community hospitals in Kalamazoo, Bronson Methodist Hospital and Ascension Borgess Hospital where the surgeons in our group provide surgery and inpatient care. They are located each within a 5 minute drive of WMCC. WMCC has a strong partnership with Western Michigan University School of Medicine Ob/GYN Residency program, with teaching and resident mentorship at the forefront of our service. There is a 2nd and 4th year resident on service at all times and the GYN Oncologists have a faculty position at the medical school. Our GYN Oncologist has access to 4 DaVinci Xi systems and block time, a state of the art private anesthesia group allowing a largely outpatient robotic practice, hospitalist partnerships for admitting patients, and experienced PA support in clinic. The Radiation Oncology group at WMCC provides innovative curative and palliative radiation to our patients including in house HDR for locally advanced cervical cancer, SBRT, and IMRT. The GYN Oncology group manages chemotherapy at the 2 hospital-based infusion rooms which are on-site at each hospital. WMCC is part of the NCORP involving the west side of Michigan to be able to provide our patients with access to clinical trials. We host a multidisciplinary tumor board conference with community and resident involvement. The catchment area of WMCC is the 9 county southwest corner of the state. We see a broad and intellectually interesting variety of pathology, as we serve both suburban and rural communities. Call is shared between the mid-levels and physicians with 1:3 call.
