NCS is currently seeking an Oncology/Palliative Care MD to join the Physician team who will specialize in relieving the stress and symptoms that accompany an oncologic diagnosis
Reviews current treatment plan with patients and providers and assist patients in making advanced care planning decisions- ensures patients have an understanding of their illness.
Works with a patient and his or her family to identify, control or alleviate physical and emotional discomfort and other symptoms.
Assesses for and identifies physical, psychological, psychiatric and cognitive symptoms to include: depression, anxiety, delirium, coping and effectively manages symptoms or makes appropriate referrals.
Develops comprehensive plans of care for patients and communicates plan to patient’s oncologist.
Facilitates access to appropriate supportive care services
Leads Interdisciplinary Team meetings reviewing the care of patients on service as indicated.
Provides timely and efficient care coordination and continuity for patients, using clinical and referral resources when indicated.
Coordinates annual strategic planning for the Palliative Care program
Participates and provides clinical leadership in the development and review of appropriate clinical protocols and programs.
Oversees and mentors the Palliative Care APP and other Palliative Care team members.
Provides leadership in the identification of Palliative Care education needs for staff and development of effective educational strategies
Works with practice leadership to enhance the palliative care program's community outreach to physicians, the public, healthcare facilities, and other applicable organizations in the community
Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree
Board Certified Preferred
Ability to be licensed in the state of Nebraska
Valid DEA Registration Number
Excellent communicator who can empathize with patients
