The Palliative Care Team at Pennsylvania Hospital is looking for an inpatient palliative care physician to join our growing and dynamic interdisciplinary program. The successful candidate will provide direct palliative care consultation and palliative care education. This team is extensively involved in teaching and curriculum development for medical residents and learners from other disciplines, as well as innovative palliative care quality improvement initiatives.
Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), the nation's first hospital, is a 515-bed acute care facility that provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical services and functions as a major teaching and clinical research institution. It is part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is located at 8th and Spruce Streets in the historic Society Hill district of Philadelphia.
PAH serves a diverse community and our palliative care population includes virtually all medical populations except trauma and transplant medicine. The inpatient palliative care program at PAH is a well-established, stable, and respected team that delivers innovative, high quality person and family centered palliative care. The inpatient team includes one full-time physician and one part-time physician, two full time advance practice providers, and a full-time social worker. This team collaborates extensively with the hospital chaplain and social work departments, as well as two outpatient oncology palliative care nurse practitioners and their interprofessional team. Team members are supported and encouraged to participate in the extensive continuing medical education and professional growth opportunities afforded by Penn Medicine’s broader palliative care community.
Faculty appointment will be commensurate with experience.

Applicants must have either an M.D. or D.O. degree and demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education. Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is required. Demonstrated leadership skills and fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine are strongly preferred.
