The community relations representative is responsible for building relationships with community organizations, the growth and success of raising public awareness of Long Beach Medical Center services, Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach services, and system health plans. The community outreach rep will maintain relationships with community centers and service organizations, while also working to secure new ones. The community outreach rep is responsible to staff event booths at community events, coordinate volunteers from the extended hospital outreach team (i.e., injury prevention, palliative care, stroke, LBACA, Welcome Baby, etc.). The rep is expected to staff evening/weekend events as needed and work with the marketing reps to determine speakers for Senior Centers and senior events; such as Medicine, Munchies & Movies. The community outreach rep will work with marketing rep leads to collaborate on sponsorship opportunities. The community outreach rep will be responsible for bring outreach ideas to team marketing plan brainstorms, and draft the community outreach section of each plan, as well as writing the community outreach section of the marketing plan recap. The community outreach rep will handle the three senior events led by outside organizations.
Essential Job Outcomes & Functions
Community Event Staffing: Attend a minimum of 15-20 events per quarter across South Bay, Long Beach, 605 Corridor and Orange County for Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's.
Community Organizational Relationship Maintenance & Building: The community outreach rep will maintain current relationships with organizations that are partners now, by checking in on them at least once a quarter for updates and speaking engagements.
Chamber Relationship Maintenance & Building: The community outreach rep must regularly attend and be on at least 3-5 chambers each year in target markets of South Bay, Orange County and LA/Long Beach.

Community Benefit Logistics: The community relations representative is responsible for submitting reports to community benefit consultant on annual basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
One to three (1-3) years sales and/or marketing experience
Knowledge of the healthcare industry and the hospital market preferred
Experience selling new or misunderstood services is a plus
Bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred
Ability to work independently and be accountable for results;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Clean, professional image, behavior and demeanor are expected at all times
Strong organizational skills
Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other applications
Good driving record and reliable transportation for use on the job
Bachelors degree in communication, marketing or health administration is required.
