The Administrator – Primary Care and Urgent Care will work to provide strategic and operational leadership for a defined group of clinical departments. Responsibilities will include assuring the delivery of exceptional and evidence based care to patients within every specialty, including assurance that service standards will exceed expectations and delight our customers. The Administrator will have overall accountability for working with the executive leadership to develop strategic plans that contain insight into what is necessary to position SSM Health St. Louis Medical Group as the preferred system for each specialty, along with accountability for assuring daily operations that support the overall strategic direction. Overall budget accountability (development, monitoring and adhering to budget) are embedded in this role, along with leading and supporting efforts to achieve operational efficiency goals. The Administrator will have HR responsibilities for non-physician staff and will also ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
The Administrator will establish systems to advance clinical care within each department so that SSM Health Medical Group is known as the most contemporary clinical care provider in the region.
Will continually measure clinical outcomes and make available to all physicians and staff to act on.
Will constantly assure attention to patient satisfaction and will create plans to move metrics in a positive direction.
Will participate in clinical benchmarking opportunities whenever reasonable.
Will model the philosophy of “the patient comes first” and set expectations for the same among all reports
Ensure compliance with state, federal and regulatory guidelines.
Will be aware of market share data and make plans to enhance market share for assigned departments.
Will analyze opportunity for program development growth, create business proposals and implement if approved.
Develop operational plans to drive value and manage populations of patients.
Will have national and community connections to assure contemporary practices are considered at SSM Health St. Louis.
Develop space and capital plans to accommodate strategic growth initiatives.
Manages the assigned clinics and ancillary departments.
In collaboration with management and physician leaders will create realistic and stretch annual budget
Will develop revenue budget that considers growth opportunities.
With managers and staff develop budget with cost reduction opportunities.
Will create system for monthly review of budget metrics and will create plan of action for variance. Make select financial indicators transparent to all in department
Responsible for being aware of efficiency strategies in the industry and for adopting new approaches to care when reasonable.
Will support and lead formal systems for re-engineering work processes
Will assure that the work environment is conducive to patient care and is patient friendly. Will make recommendations for space allocation
Responsible for daily staffing and will assure that appropriate staff are available to support care
Will assure that access standards are met.
Will assure that scheduling and registration and scheduling processes are timely, smooth and friendly
Will assure that patient education systems are developed and or matured for each department
In conjunction with Central Business office and Informatics, optimize revenue cycle performance.
Will work cooperatively to create a culture of safety throughout the medical group.
Financial capability to lead multi-million dollar P & L.
Will assure adequate staffing for each area and create systems of staffing flexibility that provides proficient expertise without exceeding staffing guidelines.
Work with HR to assure recruitment of adequate talent for the department
Develop leadership skills in the managers who work for the Senior Administrator.
In conjunction with HR Department and line managers, assume responsibility within area of responsibility for staff hiring, development and employee relations.
Responsible for assuring that performance reviews are complete within department.
Collaborate with physician recruiting, VPMA’s, Legal and Finance to manage physician compensation and contracts.
Will create non-burdensome systems of communication, so that information flows easily and completely to staff within the department, System and local information is available to all.
Will create a positive culture of problem solving.
Verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization.
Develops and maintains an effective partnership with Vice President of Medical Affairs and the Medical Director to effectively implement programs and work plans.
Promotes and maintains a harmonious and effective relationship with SSM and other related hospitals/groups to deliver the quality of service consistent with the SSM vision.
Lead large groups of employees including managing and developing managers.
Master’s degree in business or a medical related field with 7-10 years of experience in healthcare management.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven critical thinking and problem solving abilities, including resolving complex problems requiring innovative solutions.
Strong financial and analytical skills.
Ability to present oneself and one’s ideas with clarity, confidence and poise.
Strong PC and computer skills.
Previous experience with Medical Informatics.
